Breakfast! Why It's so Important

Eating breakfast is not only nutritious, but very healthy. Nutritional experts have referred to breakfast as the most important meal of the day. Breakfast provides the energy needed to start the day off right.

Eating breakfast reduces your hunger later in the day, making it easier to avoid overeating. When you skip breakfast, you may feel ravenous later and be tempted to reach for an unhealthy snack, such as sweets or high calorie items from a vending machine. Many people believe that they will lose weight if they skip meals. This is a myth that is misdiagnosed.


Children who eat a good breakfast tend to perform better in school, pay more attention, think better and get higher test scores.  Breakfast can make a difference in how much your child learns, how well your child plays, and how good your child feels. Most schools provide a nutritional breakfast under their school program and most students can qualify with their parents approval.

Adults who eat breakfast have a tendency to perform well in the workplace, have a higher attendance rate, and are more focused on their performance rate. Even if you are a stay at home parent you should include breakfast as part of your daily routine.

Many breakfast menus should include milk, fruit, whole grains, breads, meats or meat substitutes, and cereals.

If you are a Vegetarian, there are nutritional breakfast diets that can meet all known nutrient needs.

Eating breakfast or any meal together as a family enriches a child's self-esteem and importance as part of a family unit.
