Scary Appearance

I am a recovering anorexic.  In the summer going into seventh grade, I was excited about starting my dance lessons again in the fall. I had taken a break from it for three years, after having taken it for five years previous.

I began religiously doing all sorts of jumps and exercises.  The talk at the lunch table was all about how little we ate, but we all knew that everyone would go home and pig out.  Not eating at lunch was just for image.

However, I took it too seriously and started counting calories. I began asking my mom all sorts of questions about food and calories and fat, and overly exercised.

I evaluated my body every day in the mirror, feeling each rib and bone, sucking in, pushing out. My classmates began to notice it too.  I was severely depressed and had crying outbreaks in school.

People at my church didn't recognize me from 20 feet away because of my scary appearance.  When my oldest brother came home from college, he freaked.  My parents had been worried too, but were trying to see past it.  When my grandmother reacted to my looks, as well as my two other brothers, my parents took action. They took me to the doctor and I was diagnosed with anorexia

I have experimented with things to take away the pain like cutting, but DON"T do it, it just makes things
worse.

It has been a long, winding, wobbly road, but with the help of God, my family, friends, therapists, and nutritionist, I am recovering!  I was diagnosed almost two years ago and I am making progress every day! you can do it too!
