Mono, Not Something I Wanted To Hear! I was 20 when it was discovered that I had Mono. I was at work and felt very tired and weak. I did not want to stand up. Everytime I did, I would become dizzy and sweat. I was having dinner that evening with my parents and my mom noticed that my throat looked swollen. I was prone to sore throats growing up my whole life but never had I experienced anything so painful as that evening when I looked in my mouth and could not see the back of my throat. I waited until morning and went to the hospital. The Doctor asked me the regular questions, do you have a fever, have you had a cold lately? He did the strep test and that came back negative. He took some blood for blood work. I got a call a few hours later and was told I had "Mono" not something I wanted to hear. It took me nearly three months to finally feel better and get back to normal. Three weeks ago, I was daignosed with it again. It had been five years since I had it last. I never thought I would get it again because it is so rare to get it a second time. |
