Migraines

I thought I'd throw my two cents in here..."food for thought", perhaps.

Migraines are often misdiagnosed. I was one of perhaps many people I personally know who have gone through this.

I didn't have the classic symptoms of a migraine, but the doctor said the pain symptoms and the throwing up, etc. all sounded like classic migraines. They did the CAT scans, and all the gobbledygook to finally diagnose me as a migraine sufferer.

My headaches are horrible, and when I get them, sometimes I can have them for days on end. I've had these headaches since I was about eight or so. That's as far back as I can remember suffering from them.

Regular over-the-counter stuff is useless, as well as Tylenol 3s or 4s. They gave me Midrin for them (but Midrin was new and controversial when it was given to me, and very expensive...1.00 a pill). I had to quit taking them because of the expense (and it really didn't stop the headaches anyhow).

A couple of years ago, someone suggested that I go to see a chiropractor. I did, and WHAT a difference. For the first time in my life, that I could remember, I went two entire weeks without a headache! After regular chiropractic care (I go now maybe once a month), I find that I rarely get these debilitating headaches.

I also found something else out on my own. Once, during one of these awful headaches, I took some Tylenol Sinus (figuring it wasn't going to hurt, everything already HURT already!) and it made my headache go away.

Usually NOTHING over-the-counter made a difference. I asked the chiropractor about this strange discovery, and she said that there are nerves in your neck (up near the top) that when your neck is out of place there, that these nerves get irritated, and that these nerves being irritated can mimic a migraine or sinus headache..same type of symptoms, same kind of pain.

I know some people don't believe that chiropractic does any good. For me, the chiropractor gave me a new lease on life. When I start getting the headaches back, I go there..sometimes I go in the middle of a headache...and by the time I walk out the door, my headache is subsiding.

It might be worth a try.
