Polycystic Kidney Disease Hi, My name is Barbara and I am 46 years old. I found out that I had Polycystic Kidney Disease when I was 18. I have been fortunate to have a normal life but I am starting to feel more tired since I work 40 hours a week on my feet. I have one child, a daughter, and she is 28. We just found out that she has PKD. It really concerns me, because she is just now getting married and wants to have a child. The doctor told her to have a child as soon as possible. I have tried to do all I want in life, for fear that one day I can't. My greatest fear, is not being able to afford the treatments that may lie ahead. My daughter worries about me and I worry about her. But I'm trying to be strong for her. I feel I can get positive output from the internet, and it makes me feel better to talk to people and share this information. In my county there are only two people that has Polycystic Kidney Disease. Now that my daughter has it, it is three people. I hope there will be a cure for this some day. Thank you, Barbara Moody |
