There are several types of apples. Some of the most common types are: Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Fuji, Jonagold, Granny Smith, Cripps Pink, Gala, Braeburn, Cameo. Each type of apple has a distinct color and flavor.

Apple nutrition

Apples are a great source of both soluble and insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber such as pectin helps prevent cholesterol buildup in the lining of blood vessel walls. The insoluble fiber in apples provides bulk in the intestinal tract which helps hold water to cleanse and move food quickly through the digestive system.

To keep apples crisp, store keep apples refrigerated at about 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

How to prepare apples
