Mental Health Services

A number of mental health professionals are available to help you develop and define your level of mental disability. These professionals include social workers, counselors, psychotherapist, clinical psychology, public health counselors, mental health counselors and many more.

A mental disorder or mental illness is a psychological or behavioral pattern that occurs in an individual and is thought to cause distress or disability that is not expected as part of normal development or culture. Getting help is nothing to be ashamed of. It will only help you elevate your self-esteem and give you the confidence of knowing someone is there for you.

If you are unsure where to go for help, talk to someone you trust who has experience in mental health, for example, a doctor, nurse, social worker, or religious counselor.

Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) is a national observance that was created in 1990 by the United States Congress in response to the increasing incidence of mental illness. The MIAW is observed during the month of October.
