Scalp Products for Bald Guys

Men who have receding hairlines or who are just plain going bald are constantly in search of scalp products that will help to put hair back on their heads. It is estimated that out of every group of 100 men ranging in ages from 18 to 80, approximately 12 to 80 percent of them will go bald. Male pattern baldness is often hereditary in nature so if your father went bald at an early age then you are likely to as well.

Commercial scalp products

There are many different scalp products on the market for bald guys to choose from. Some of the most well known are sold as shampoo treatments. These include NU-Grow, New Generation, Young Hair, Hair Grow, Hair 2-U, Farm Hair, and AidooAid. The scalp product COUVRE’ is a hair enhancer whereas Fast Flock and Toppik are both aerosol sprays. Rogaine is a well-known brand that is a topical hair treatment as is Hair Geneses. One of the latest products to encourage hair growth in men is called PROPICA and this is a pill that must be taken by mouth once every day.

It is important to be aware that scalp products often take months to work so it is important to be as patient as possible. If you find that one is not to your liking then give another one a try. Always read the labels on the side of scalp products before using because some do have potential side effects to consider.

Natural treatments

Another option for hair loss is natural treatments in the form of vitamins and herbs. Saw palmetto for example is believed to be effective at helping to prevent hair loss in men because the properties of this herb are very similar in nature to the anti-androgenic drug known as finasteride, which is what is used to create the scalp product PROPICIA. To encourage both the growth of hair as well as the color and thickness reach for healthy doses of folic acid, silica, vitamin B5, biotin and para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA). Too much copper can bring about hair loss and this can occur if you are taking supplement that are 30 mg or higher for a period of more than three months. Always discuss with your doctor whether a copper supplement is necessary before you automatically begin taking one.

One research study has shown that the use of aromatherapy can help to encourage hair to grow on spots of the scalp that are bald. In particular the essential oils lavender, rosemary, cedarwood and thyme when mixed with jojoba oil can stimulate the growth of hair. This recipe includes three drops of thyme, three drops of lavender, three drops of cedarwood, three drops of rosemary, 1/8 cup of grapeseed oil and 1/8 cup of jojoba oil. All you need to do is to mix all ingredients together and then apply several drops to your scalp. Do this every night before going to bed and massage the mixture gently into the scalp for a period of three to five minutes, avoiding the eye area.
